The KUN centre for gender equality
The purpose of the foundation is to be a centre of knowledge where women's experiences and knowledge are made visible, recognised, up-graded and documented. It is to be a meeting place between theoretical and practical, formal and informal knowledge, as well as providing possibilities for developing networks, educational opportunities and working methods.
The foundation is directed by a board of 7 women and men who are recruited from various organisations and academic institutions. KUN has its base in Steigen in Northern Norway, where it owns a building with offices, meeting- and teaching facilities, which also includes the Nora Guesthouse that offers accommodation and catering by appointment.
The Northern Feminist University receives basic funding from the State budget, which is crucial for the running of the foundation and an imperative for the development of courses and projects.
