Parity in decision-making: Women in the Heart of Europe
This is a 15-month transnational European project, focusing on improving the gender balance in decision-making, specifically in connection with the 2004 European Parliament election in Greece, Hungary and Italy, and the national election in Greece.
The projects aim is to:
- Inform and sensitise public opinion about the importance and the advantages of women’s participation in political, economic and social decision making
- Ensure parity representation of women on the ballot lists for the elections
- Empower women in order to demand their participation in the ballot lists of the political parties
- Train women candidates and enable them to run successfully in the elections
The project is financed by the European Commission (80%) and the Greek General Secretariat of Equality (20%).

- Eyecatcher Associates / Shevolution and Project Parity – UK
- MONA – Foundation for the Women of Hungary – Hungary
- Arcidonna Onlus – Italy
- The Northern Feminist University (KUN) – Norway
National Greek partners are:
- Centre for Action and Research on Peace (KEDE)
- Political Association for Women
KETHI is coordinator of the project, and KUN will be evaluating the process and the outcome.
